Vintage Scrap quilt – Watermelon

January 13, 2010

So I am pretty much ready for spring. It has been so cold here that the only time my fingers & toes are warm is when I’m in a hot shower. The pink & green colors remind me of the watermelon I’ll (hopefully) be growing & enjoying this summer.

If you look closely you’ll see a couple of four-patches mixed in with all the nine-patches. I needed two more blocks to finish the quilt, & I was sick of sewing nine-patches, so I did four-patches instead. Can you tell I have ADD?!

I used new, vintage, & upcycled cottons for the squares, & the back is a tiny rosebud on white. I quilted it in a freehand meandering pattern. It is about 36″x45″.

As always, you can click on the thumbnails to see larger photos.
