Cottage quilt
This is one of my favorite quilts I’ve ever made. I made these blocks from my scrap bag, choosing red, orange, yellow, green & aqua. I included sections of white because I had originally planned to sash them in the same white – thus eliminating some of the block edges. For some reason I picked linen instead, which I do really like. I still have more of these blocks, so I think I will try the white sashing next time.
For the back, I used this large-scale bird print (which I love SO MUCH), with a strip of FMF green. It’s quilted in a hybrid meander-ripple pattern (I was in a weird mood that day). It is about 36″x45″.
As always, you can click on the thumbnails to see larger photos.

Wow – what a great scrap quilt! And I have that bird faric to just sitting around waiting for something great. And I’m just seeing your SL Modern Quilt Guild button! I’m here too.
This is great! One of my favourite sashed pieces that I’ve seen in a while. (Generally, I’m not a fan of sashing.)
wow, I just found your blog, and absolutely LOVE this quilt!!! what an ispiration.
Linen sashing has got to be one of my favorite things. I love what it does to a variety of colors.
What is the name of that FABULOUS bird print you backed it with?
